The Field Guide was set up in 2020 by Kent based gardener Robbie McClintock. At this time Robbie maintained existing gardens, being drawn towards herbaceous and ornamental borders. In 2025 Robbie was lucky enough to start a journey of formal training as a garden designer attending the prestigious London College of Garden Design and is due to graduate in July 2026.

Having grown up in the Suffolk countryside & enjoyed numerous Scottish Highland holidays as a child Robbie has a close appreciation for all aspects of the UK landscape. Curiosity in the natural world was established at an early age with regular birdwatching trips to north Norfolk and RSPB Minsmere, this has lead to a more recent fascination in native flora, ecological additions and condiderations being first and foremost when designing or intervening into our garden landscapes.
